Hot Springs Man Arrested for Unauthorized Medical Care
Nicholas Giordano, Special Agent in Charge, Department of Veteran Affairs, Office of the Inspector General Central Field Office, announced today that Victor Alan Siegrist was arrested in Hot Springs, AR, pursuant to a six count Federal indictment. The arrest conducted by OIG special agents and deputy U. S. Marshals was the culmination of investigative efforts by his Houston Resident Agency. Siegrist, a dishonorably discharged veteran, assumed the identity of an eligible veteran and received over $39,000 in medical treatments at VA facilities in eight different states. Additionally, Siegrist accrued numerous felony warrants and financial obligations in the name of the innocent veteran, initiating the seizure of the veteran’s 1998 IRS refund. Siegrist, a convicted felon, is being held without bond pending transfer to Colorado.

Assistant United States Attorney Kathee Tafoya of the District of Colorado is prosecuting the case.
