The 2006 Construction Fund Bill created a watershed restoration appropriation for planning and engineering studies for watershed restoration and flood mitigation projects throughout the state. Prospective grantees need to apply to the Program by January 31st of each year. For more information about the Program, please review the following documents:
House Bill 08-1241 changed the Colorado Watershed Protection Fund to the Colorado Healthy Rivers Fund (CHRF). The legislation also continued the authorization for CHRF to be part of the Colorado Individual Income Tax Refund Check-off Program. The Check-off Program gives taxpayers the opportunity to voluntarily contribute to watershed protection efforts in Colorado. For more information on CHRF and its history, please visit the Colorado Watershed Assembly. Watershed groups need to apply to the CHRF by April 30th of each year. The CWCB has been vested with the authority to grant moneys for mitigation projects for existing facilities through the Fish and Wildlife Resources Fund Grant Program (FWLRF) pursuant to CRS 37-60-122.2(5). The Board’s administration of the FWLRF is governed by the above statute and Board Policy 15. Applicants may apply for grants under the FWLRF for mitigation of existing water diversion, delivery or storage facilities.
