January 13, 2009--State begins investigation of gold mine (Durango Herald)
State mining regulators issued a cease-and-desist order Monday to Wildcat Mining Corp., saying the company appears to be operating a mine without a permit. The state Mined Land Reclamation Board has scheduled a hearing Feb. 11 in Denver to determine whether to sanction the company. Neighbors also worry the mine is close to the La Plata River headwaters.
