Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.)

The STEM Scholars Program provides a very structured academic program for new students who are interested in pursuing a career based in math or science. Students will follow a set schedule of classes, participate in activities, and maintain excellent attendance. For the first two semesters, students will fulfill most of the general requirements needed to attain a two-year degree and a strong possibility of moving on to a four-year degree in STEM related careers.

It is a highly structured schedule that demands participation in all classes and scheduled workshops, which may make it difficult to hold a part-time job. A stipend is provided for maintaining excellent attendance in all classes and other scheduled workshops.

This concept of building a cohort of students to participate in a structured educational plan has been shown to be successful in other community colleges. Community colleges across the nation are using this “learning community” concept as foundation for student success. Successful completion of the program should enable students to continue their pursuits for degrees in STEM related fields.
