IDEA-Initiative
for the Development of Entrepreneurs in Agriculture-was created by University
of Illinois as a statewide initiative. IDEA conducts research, develops
educational products, and provides services that encourage farmers to
incorporate entrepreneurial strategies which direct their marketing efforts
to meeting consumer demand.

Producers, buyers, sellers, and distributors in Illinois now have access
to a new online marketing tool, MarketMakerTM.
This web site provides a one-stop shop for strategic marketing information
for producers and food retailers alike. An interactive mapping system
locates businesses and markets of agricultural products in Illinois,
providing an important link between producers and consumers. The web
site is rich with demographic and business data that the user can query
against to find supply chain partners, location of food consumers and
how food related purchasing decisions are made.

will find Information about new crops, livestock, organic, and marketing
channel alternatives, and places to go for business start-up questions,
regulatory information, and sources of funding.

Sheets-These
came into existence when University of Illinois Extension Educators
realized a need for dissemination of information on current and past
agriculture research. IDEA continues to add new fact sheets, so check
back frequently.
