Financial Aid

HOME

In partnership with The University of Alaska Fairbanks mission statement, the UAF Financial Aid Office assists students seeking resources to finance their postsecondary education by administering a comprehensive offering of federal, state and institutional aid programs in a student-centered environment. Financial Aid is a unit within Student and Enrollment Services.

Many UAF students use some kind of financial aid to help pay for their university education. We provide information about the many types of financial aid, including scholarships, loans, grants, fellowships and more.

You can apply for financial aid if you're a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen and are admitted or plan to be admitted to the university. Students holding a F-1 or J-1 visa are not eligible to apply for federal or state financial assistance, but may apply for UAF scholarships, fellowships, assistantships and some work programs.

Financial aid can help pay for tuition and fees, books and supplies, and living expenses. It provides access to higher education by offering a way to meet the costs, and it allows students to persist in completing their educational objectives.

The University of Alaska system has a new Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP) that we believe is more consistent with the institutional mission and academic policies of the university. This policy is in effect to receive aid for the spring semester 2008 and beyond. View the complete SAP policy.
