Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) -- This NIH site provides guidance, news flashes, policies and laws, and useful links. It includes training modules in care and use of animals in research and materials on how to prepare protocols for research with animals.
Training Materials - OFFICE OF LABORATORY ANIMAL WELFARE – Links to a CD developed by a subcommittee of the NIH Animal Research Advisory Committee to assist in the development of proper surgical skills when working with nonhuman primates. The site is directed at NIH intramural scientists but is available to others.

Model Organisms for Biomedical Research - NIH - This site provides information on initiatives, guidelines, publications, meetings, and major resources on both mammalian and non-mammalian research models.
Institute of Laboratory Animal Research (ILAR) - An organization that makes available scientific and technical information on laboratory animals and other biological research resources for the animal care and use community. Site contains current projects, publications, and links to scientific and technical information. It links to the ILAR journal, a quarterly peer-reviewed publication with articles geared toward investigators in biomedical and related research, institutional officials for research, veterinarians, and members of animal care and use committees.
ILAR Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals -- 1996 National Research Council report that promotes humane care of animals used in biomedical and behavioral research and teaching.

Association For Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) - a voluntary accreditation organization that works with institutions and researchers to ensure the highest standards of animal care and use.
