Stranded in a Flood
Flood Response Program
In order to respond to flood events in a timely manner, the CWCB developed a Flood Response Fund in 2001 that makes $150,000/yr available to be spent in the five categories listed below. This program makes funding and technical assistance available for activities related to local severe flood events. The elements of this program are:
  • Flood Documentation Reports - The CWCB monitors local flooding events during the year and then chooses the most significant events to document.
  • Flood and Weather Outlooks - The CWCB chairs the Governor's Flood Task Force and contracts with HDR Engineering, Inc. to provide weather related presentations at the Flood Task Force and CWCB meetings.
  • Post Flood Floodplain Information - The CWCB develops 100-year flood and debris flow information in hazard areas after flooding events
  • Flood Mitigation - the CWCB provides technical assistance for both planning and projects for both structural and non-structural flood mitigation projects. Aerial Photography - aerial photos and mapping for post-flood hazard identification.
