A Message from the HV2010 Consortium

Healthy People 2010 is a shared responsibility of the Federal Government, States, local governments, policymakers, health care providers, professionals, business executives, educators, community leaders, and the American public.

Healthy Vision 2010 represents the vision objectives in Healthy People 2010, the nation's public health agenda. It is the responsibility of the vision community to work together to advance eye health in our neighborhoods and communities and through State and National programs and policy. As leaders, we must work to ensure that information and resources are available to improve our Nation's visual health. This can be accomplished by becoming a more active participant in decisions affecting your own health or the health of your children or loved ones; by assuming a leadership role in promoting healthier behaviors in your neighborhood or community; or by using your influence and social stature to advocate for and implement policies and programs that can improve dramatically the visual health of dozens, hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people.

Whatever role is chosen, Healthy Vision 2010 is designed to help you determine what you can do-in your home, community, business, or State-to help improve the Nation's visual health.
