Research Project:
Application of Bioitechnology to Control the Soybean Cyst Nematode
Location: Crop Genetics and Production Research
Project Number: 6402-21220-009-06
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Oct 01, 2006
End Date: Sep 30, 2008
Objective:
Confirm resistance in soybean seedlings of elite germplasm with resistance to soybean cyst nematode developed from wild species of soybean PI468916. Evaluate PI 567516C, 437655, 438489B, 567286, and 89772 for resistance to multiple populations of the nematode, including populations parasitizing the cultivar Hartwig and its derivatives.
Approach:
Screen soybean germplasm submitted from other scientists using standardized methods in greenhouse assay. Harvest DNA from screened plants. Evaluate for presence of DNA markers using PCR reactions.
