Summary: Farmers who sell directly to the public are eligible to accept EBT cards. The challenge for farmers’ markets and farm stands, some of which accepted paper food stamps in the past, is the lack of infrastructure to accept the EBT card, which requires a landline telephone and electricity, or a wireless terminal. Today there are several options for farmers and markets, depending on the resources available to them. This manual describes the various options and how farmers or market managers can offer this service to EBT-card customers.
