Continuing Education

Cornell University is dedicated to maintaining and expanding its outreach and continuing education programs, activities, and opportunities in a variety of formats and levels accessible to the broadest possible range of audiences and participants. These efforts include the distribution of printed and online materials, free public presentations in local communities and online, education vacation excursions and courses, distance-learning workshops and conferences, and formal executive-education and other professional-development courses and training sessions.

General Continuing Education

School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions

The School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions provides year-round learning opportunities for enrolled college students; high school students; Cornell faculty and staff members; executives and other professionals; Cornell alumni, parents, and friends; and local residents. The school draws on all of Cornell's academic units and vast educational resources, and on visiting scholars and leaders in industry, government, and other professions. Admission and enrollment are independent of undergraduate and graduate admissions procedures.

Cornell Cooperative Extension

The Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) educational system is an outgrowth of Cornell's land grant mission. CCE has educators in each of New York State's 62 counties (which include all 5 New York City boroughs), and makes experience and research knowledge widely available through publications, workshops, partnerships, and regional teams and programs that enable people to improve their lives and communities. Its program areas include community development, the environment, agriculture, family and youth, 4-H youth development, nutrition and health, financial management, and gardening.

Executive Education and Professional Development

Johnson Graduate School of Management

The Johnson School offers an array of open-enrollment, results-oriented executive education programs geared to the needs of busy professionals.

School of Industrial and Labor Relations

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations offers an extensive array of executive education and professional development programs on U.S. and international aspects of management, executive training, labor, workplace and employment, and professional development and enrichment.

School of Hotel Administration

The Hotel School's Office of Executive Education offers a variety of programs for hospitality managers, from trainees through senior executives, in a variety of formats and venues: courses on campus, abroad, and online; two-week programs on campus; and programs customized for individual clients.

Food Industry Management Program

The Cornell University Food Industry Management Program's outreach efforts include the Food Executive Program, two other major executive leadership programs, and country- or region-specific international food executive programs, all of which bring current and future middle- and upper-level food industry managers and leaders to the Cornell campus to learn about management issues from world-class instructors.

School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions

In addition to offering a wide range of executive education and professional development programs and courses in conjunction with numerous Cornell academic units, the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions also will work with any corporation or other agency anywhere in the world to custom design continuing education programs to meet their needs.

Cornell Outdoor Education

Cornell Teambuilding is a division of Cornell Outdoor Education, the country's largest and most comprehensive collegiate outdoor education program. Cornell Teambuilding is a nationally recognized leader in the field of experience-based team building and leadership development, and offers hands-on training programs at its facilities in Ithaca and at other locations around the country.

Cornell Law School has been certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board as an Accredited Provider of continuing legal education in the State of New York.

Continuing Medical Education

Weill Cornell Medical College (New York City)

Weill Cornell Medical College's Continuing Medical Education program provides lifelong educational opportunities for physicians that will in turn improve the health care of patients, and also improve the career satisfaction of physicians by keeping them current with the latest developments in medicine. The college is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Continuing Education in Veterinary Medicine

College of Veterinary Medicine

The Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine is one of the most valued providers of continuing education opportunities for the veterinary community. These include subject-specific conferences and symposia, courses, and newsletters under the guidance of the college's world-renowned and award-winning veterinary faculty.

Cornell sources of distance and distributed learning resources and programs, both credit and not-for-credit, include:
