Southeast Arizona Drought Monitoring

Preliminary February precipitation data will be posted by March 15th

Drought conditions update (as of February 17th) - For the period February 11th through 17th, dry weather previaled during the past week. Due to dryness of the past several month across southeast Cochise county, this area was downgraded to abnormally dry. Otherwise no changes were made on this weeks National Drought Monitor with no short term drought across the remainder of southeast Arizona. HOWEVER, long term drought conditions continue to persist across the region with LARGE multi-year precipitation deficits to overcome.

Outlook through February 24th. Strong ridge of high pressure will bring much above normal temperatures to the area this weekend into early next week before temperatures cool off a bit as the ridge weakens. The next update to drought conditions across southeast Arizona will be during the week of February 24th.
