Temporary Staffing

Overview
To assist University departments and schools in meeting the growing demand for pre-qualified temporary employees, Purdue University has entered into contractual agreements with several West Lafayette area temporary staffing agencies. Purdue established these agreements to supply temporary staffing coverage for various needs throughout the University, including:

  • Vacations
  • Leaves of absence
  • Special projects
  • Seasonal peaks
  • Unexpected business demands

Each temporary employee has passed the agency’s screening and skills testing process. And all agencies in this program guarantee each temporary employee they place.

Hiring a Temporary Employee
The first step in hiring a temporary employee is to contact a temporary staffing agency. Although each agency listed here has agreed to special Purdue pricing, each has its own fee schedule.

Every agency offers something different. When choosing an agency, consider the agency’s pricing, customer service, screening and testing process, and other offered services such as criminal background checks. To help you decide which company is the best fit for your temporary staffing need, follow the links below to additional information provided by each agency.

Once the department has hired an employee from a temporary agency, the next step is to determine if the temporary employee needs access to our systems. If system access is necessary, then the department needs to complete a Personnel Action Form (PA) to place the temporary employee in a non-paid position within the department.
