USDA Utah Rural Development

Rural Business And Economic Development

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Business Service (RBS) Programs enhance economic development in rural Utah by providing financial assistance to business projects. RBS provides economic development and financial assistance through a variety of Federal Loan, loan guarantee, and grant programs. RBS financial assistance is often leveraged with other public and commercial credit sources to multiply the impact of these programs. Priority is given to projects that support a diversified rural Utah economy, and to businesses that create or save good quality jobs in rural Utah. Priority is also given to businesses benefiting the most rural and impoverished areas of Utah.

RBS programs that provide financial assistance to rural businesses include:

·         The Business and Industry (B&I) Loan Guarantee Program.

·         The Intermediary Relending Program (IRP).

·         The Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) Program.

·         The Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) Program.

·         The Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG) Program.

·         The Value Added Development Grant (VADG) Program.

·         The Rural Cooperative Development Grant (RCDG) Program.
