Mission — Making Life Better

To seek, verify and apply knowledge to enhance agriculture, the environment and communities.

Founded

1859, by Board of Trustees. First college at the university to accept women (1918). The study of agriculture and the environment has been an important part of the university since the earliest years. The university’s founder, Abraham Baldwin, envisioned a college garden capable of supplying the food needs of the students and community.

Location

Three main campuses in Athens, Griffin and Tifton plus research and education centers in Attapulgus, Camilla, Eatonton, Savannah, Blairsville, Calhoun, and Plains, Georgia. County Extension offices in 157 counties and five 4-H Centers in Hampton, Jekyll Island, Eatonton, Tybee Island, and Dahlonega.
