Office of the Executive Dean of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Photo of Executive Dean Robert M. Goodman. Welcome! You join us at an exciting time--undergraduate education at Rutgers-New Brunswick is undergoing a sweeping transformation that will improve education and services for all undergraduates, including those at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Similarly, the Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) is raising the profile of its research and outreach efforts throughout the state and beyond.

The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences offers professional and pre-professional curricula that promote interdisciplinary study, from organisms to ecosystems. Our programs offer a balance of the biological and physical sciences, as well as of the social and human dimensions of these fields. Our goals are to maximize the quality of, and access to, a superior education and to ensure that our students have the best learning experience possible. Providing our students with an exceptional education that prepares them for work in a global economy and life-long learning are at the heart of everything we do.

Rutgers is New Jersey's land-grant university, which focuses the institution to enhancing the quality of life of our state's residents. The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station is a key way in which Rutgers serves communities throughout the state. Cooperative Extension offices in all 21 New Jersey counties make a difference in the lives of thousands of New Jerseyans every day, in areas such as agriculture, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, and fisheries. We offer nutrition classes for new parents and school-age children, research that reduces pesticide use, continuing professional education opportunities, assistance for start-up companies, and much, much more.

I encourage you to explore this site, as well as those of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, and to take a tour of the G. H. Cook Campus, where both the school and the NJAES are based. Learn more about what we are doing for our students and for the state of New Jersey. And, as always, I welcome your comments and questions.

Sincerely,
Robert M. Goodman
