The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) pursues its mission through partnerships with the people and governments of assisted countries, U.S. businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), private voluntary organizations, academic institutions, other U.S. government agencies, and international assistance agencies.
  • Global Public-Private Partnership on Handwashing (PPP Handwashing)
The Global Public-Private Partnership on Handwashing brings together international organizations (World Bank, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, USAID, soap manufacturers) to promote handwashing for diarrheal disease reduction through large-scale communication initiatives in targeted countries. USAID actively supports the Global Secretariat for the initiative based at the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program.

  • WHO International Network to Promote Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS)
WHO established a network aimed at promoting HWTS to accelerate health gains to those without reliable access to safe drinking water. USAID is an active partner and supporter of the network which includes over 70 members from the public and private sectors.
