The IWW partnered with the OSU Institute for Natural Resources (INR) to design and prepare a concise synthesis document that summarized water studies and the history of water management in the Umatilla Sub-Basin. It was prepared for the Umatilla County Critical Groundwater Task Force as part of their development of a Umatilla Sub-Basin 2050 Water Plan. The synthesis document helped the Task Force, Umatilla County, and their stakeholders and constituents understand the need for a long range water plan, as well as serve as an approved foundation to help design an effective scope and vision for the planning process. Three graduate students in Geology, Geography, and Water Resources Engineering along with a professional water historian contributed to the report.

The document became an appendix to the Umatilla Sub-Basin 2050 Water Plan and can be viewed as a PDF document (2.7 MB).

As a supplement to the synthesis document and related outreach work, IWW also funded a graduate student to complete a documentary film on the water situation in the Umatilla Basin.
