Environmental Quality Incentives Program

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) was reauthorized in the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (Farm Bill) to provide a voluntary conservation program for farmers and ranchers that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible national goals. EQIP offers financial and technical help to assist eligible participants install or implement structural and management practices on eligible agricultural land.
 

Environmental Research & Education Foundation Scholarships

The Environmental Research and Education Foundation annually offers funding through the Francois Fiessinger Scholarship Fund to support the work of outstanding students pursuing environmental research at the doctoral level. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: academic or professional performance; relevance of one's work to the advancement of environmental science; and potential for success.
 

Green Communities Charrette Grants

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) provides emergency loans to help producers recover from production and physical losses due to drought, flooding, other natural disasters, or quarantine.
 

KY Tourism Development Loan Program

This resource is provided by the Kentucky Department of Tourism. Through this program developers of small tourism facilities can apply for loans to create a new tourism business or expand a tourism business already in operation. Kentucky Assistive Technology Loan Program

Any individual who has been a resident of Kentucky for at least six consecutive months, and who either has a disability that permanently affects a major life activity, or is a parent, guardian or caretaker of an individual with a disability. The purpose of the loan must be to purchase assistive technology to be used by the individual with a disability. A nonprofit organization that provides assistive technology to individuals with disabilities may also apply if they can demonstrate how the adaptive equipment will be used for their potential customers. Loans for Beginning Farmers and Ranchers

The Farm Service Agency (FSA) provides direct and guaranteed loans to beginning farmers and ranchers who are unable to obtain financing from commercial credit sources. Each fiscal year, the Agency targets a portion of its direct and guaranteed farm ownership (FLO) and operating loan (OL) funds to beginning farmers and ranchers.
 
A beginning farmer or rancher is an individual or entity who (1) has not operated a farm or ranch for more than 10 years; (2) meets the loan eligibility requirements of the program to which he/she is applying; (3) substantially participates in the operation; and, (4) for FO loan purposes, does not own a farm greater than 30 percent of the average size farm in the county. (Note: all applicants for direct FO loans must have participated in business operation of a farm for at least 3 years.) If the applicant is an entity, all members must be related by blood or marriage, and all stockholders in a corporation must be eligible beginning farmers.
 

Loans for Socially Disadvantaged Persons

The Farm Service Agency (FSA) can make and guarantee loans to socially disadvantaged applicants to buy and operate family-size farms and ranches. Funds specifically for these loans are reserved each year. Non-reserved funds can also be utilized.
 
A socially disadvantaged farmer or rancher is one of a group whose members have been subjected to racial, ethnic, or gender prejudice because of their identity as members of the group without regard to their individual qualities. For purposes of this program, socially disadvantaged groups are women, African Americans, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
 

Youth Loans

FSA makes loans to individual rural youths to establish and operate income-producing projects of modest size in connection with their participation in 4-H clubs, Future Farmers of America, and similar organizations.
