March is National Women’s History Month
The
2006 theme, Women: Builders of Communities and Dreams, honors the
spirit of possibility and hopes set in motion by generations of women in their
creation of communities and their encouragement of dreams.
Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Sonoma County,
California, in 1978. It quickly spread across the Nation and now is celebrated
in thousands of schools, workplaces, and communities.
Federal Women’s program managers throughout NRCS will host activities this
month and all are encourage to support them. This is a great opportunity to
acknowledge the many contributions women have made to the country, the
workforce, and our lives.
