Research in the Earth Sciences department stride to achieve continuous excellence in the kind of science that will dominate research in the 21st century. There are four major programs in the department:

• geobiology
• climate
• geophysics
• tectonics & petrology

The focus of these four research areas may differ from one another but their contribution to the advancement of science are often overlapping.
