In need of help: Acres of Hope, a spiritually based nonprofit group that provides shelter and services for homeless women and children. Located in the Sierra foothills, the organization allows residents to live on-site for up to two years while staff members and volunteers provide encouragement, training, job skills and mentoring.

Help for seniors who own their homes.
Peace Corps holds volunteer sessions.
Some work behind the scenes. Others don period costumes – bonnets and long dresses, frontiersman garb – and demonstrate early Sacramento tasks for the tourists and visiting schoolchildren.
Applications are available for Roseville's annual grant funding program benefiting nonprofits that improve the quality of life in Roseville and Placer County.
