The Rodale Institute's Kidsregen.org® is proud to announce
 

School students nationwide, grades K through 12, are invited to enter this Organic School Garden Awards competition. If you're a kid who loves working in your organic school garden to improve your health and the health of the earth, this contest is for you!

 

Prizes:
1st Place Organic Gold Award: $1,000.00
2nd Place Organic Silver Award: $500.00
3rd Place Organic Bronze Award: $250.00

All schools will receive a certificate of appreciation.

Special note:
This program is a contest that recognizes and rewards the most outstanding organic school gardens. It is not a grant to create a new garden.

Deadline to enter:
Entries must be postmarked by October 31, 2007.

About the contest:
This contest was started 9 years ago in Pennsylvania, the home of Kidsregen.org, by The Rodale Institute to inspire youth to garden organically, and to promote regenerative gardening practices.

Who is eligible?
Any school* within the 50 United States with an organic garden may enter the contest. Click here for eligibility guidelines.

Judging:
The winning schools will be notified in December, 2007. The winning entries will be featured in our "Gallery of Gardens" in January, 2008, and all entries will be acknowledged on Kidsregen.org.

Essay:
Write a descriptive narrative of 800 words or less about your school's garden.

Create and submit a beautiful, creative poster representing your garden, using 4 clear photographs.

How to enter:

  1. Register NOW. All schools interested in participating must complete the registration form as soon as possible.
  2. Write an essay.
  3. Create a beautiful poster.
  4. Get all release forms signed (print form below).
  5. Complete the entry form (print form below).
  6. Send us the entry form, all signed releases, the essay, and the poster in one envelope. Your envelope must be postmarked by October 31, 2007.
