-- Jan. 11. 7 p.m. Stewart Center, Loeb Playhouse. Classical violinist Joshua Bell with pianist Jeremy Denk. Presented by Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $35 to $85 for adults and $25 to $45 for those 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. ** -- Jan. 24. 8 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union, South Ballroom. The Baroque Band performing "Reach for the Skies" with special guest David Hansen. Sponsored by Purdue Convocations. Program will include works by Antonio Vivaldi, Giovanni Bonocini, Riccardo Broschi, George Frideric Handel and Christoph Willibald Gluck. A pre-show discussion with the artistic director and Hansen will take place at 7 p.m. in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. Tickets are $26 for adults and $16 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. ** -- Jan. 15. 4 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union, North Ballroom. Beverly Malone, CEO of the National League of Nursing, will speak on "The Educator, the Educated and Nursing Education." Part of the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering Pioneer Speaker Series and co-sponsored by the School of Nursing's Fuld grant.

** -- Jan. 22. 3 p.m. Black Cultural Center. "Cuba and Her Revolution: 50 Years in Review." Antonio D. Tillis, an associate professor and director of Latin American and Latino Studies, will lead the panel discussion. The panelists are Dawn Stinchcomb, an assistant professor of foreign languages and literatures; Joseph Dorsey, an associate professor of history and African and American studies; and Harry Targ, a professor of political science.

** -- Jan. 23. 10:30 a.m. Heine Pharmacy Building, Room 164. Marvin R. Richardson, president and chief executive officer of Arcadia Health Care. "The Role of the Pharmacist in Improving Medication Compliance." Part of the 2009 Dean's Executive Forum, a speaker series in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

** -- Jan. 28. 5 p.m. Recitation Hall, Room 226. Latin American and Latino Studies mini-film series about Cuba. Dawn Stinchcomb, an assistant professor of foreign languages and literatures, will show and discuss the film "Suite Havana."

** -- Jan. 29. 5 p.m. Recitation Hall, Room 226. Latin American and Latino Studies mini-film series about Cuba. Joseph Dorsey, an associate professor of history and African and American studies will show and discuss the film "Cecilia."

** -- Jan. 30. 10:30 a.m. Heine Pharmacy Building, Room 164. Donna S. Wall, manager of drug use policy, quality improvement and regulatory compliance at Clarian Health Partners. "Patient Safety - It's Personal." Part of the 2009 Dean's Executive Forum, a speaker series in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

** -- Jan. 30. 5 p.m. Recitation Hall, Room 226. Latin American and Latino Studies mini-film series about Cuba. Harry Targ, a professor of political science will show and discuss the film "Fidel: The Untold Story."

** -- Feb. 6. 10:30 a.m. Heine Pharmacy Building, Room 164. Ronald A. Rosich, manager of business operations in the Neuroscience National Sales Division at Eli Lilly and Co. "Medicines and Miracles." Part of the 2009 Dean's Executive Forum, a speaker series in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

 

Workshops

** -- Jan. 20. 9-11 a.m. Discovery Park's Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, Room 121. The workshop, titled "Minimize Your Legal Costs While Maximizing Your IP Protection," will be repeated from 9-11 a.m. Jan. 27 at Purdue Research Park's Conference Center, 3000 Kent Ave. Attorneys at Bose McKinney & Evans will provide basic information on various types of intellectual property such as trademarks, copyrights and patents. Conferences

** -- Feb. 6. 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union North Ballroom. The 2009 Spring Global Supply Chain Management Conference & MBA Case Competition. The conference, titled "New Challenges in Managing the Global Supply Chain," will feature corporate executives, experts from Purdue's Krannert School of Management's Global Supply Chain Management Initiative Center, and students in discussions on navigating supply chain operations through the difficult economies in the U.S and around the world. It is sponsored by the Global Supply Chain Management Initiative and the Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises, in conjunction with Purdue's Center for International Business Education and Research.
