Camping on the Krassel Ranger DistrictUpdate June 2008 - Campgrounds are opened and water is being turned on in those campgrounds where it is available. The fishing season for salmon begins June 25th. This is a busy time for the campgrounds in the South Fork. Contact the Ranger District for information most current information on water and on conditions in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, by calling (208) 634-0600. Information on campground status is posted here as it becomes available. So please do not hesitate to contact the Krassel Ranger District at (208) 634-0600 for the most current information.

To reach the South Fork of the Salmon River Road: Poverty FlatOn the South Fork of the Salmon River Road, there are ten campground units, four are walk-in sites with tables, fire rings, hitching rails, toilet, drinking water, pack in/pack out. There is fishing and trail access. Four-Mile CreekLocated on the South Fork of the Salmon River Road. There are four campground units, tables, fire rings, hitching racks, toilet, fishing and trail access, no drinking water, pack in/pack out. Camp CreekLocated on the South Fork Road twelve miles south of the confluence of the East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon and this Road. There are four campground units with tables, fire rings, hitching rails, toilets, hiking trail access. No drinking water, pack in/pack out. BuckhornEight miles south of the confluence of the East Fork of the South Fork of the Salmon River on the South Fork of the Salmon River Road. There are ten campground units, four walk in sites with tables, fire rings, grills, handicapped accessible toilets, drinking water. PonderosaThirty-one miles northeast of McCall on Lick Creek Road at the Secesh River. There are fourteen camp sites/seven trailer units, drinking water, fire-pits, tables, toilets, pack in/pack out. There is fishing and trail access. Secesh Horse CampThirty-one miles northeast of McCall on Lick Creek Road #48. There are five campground units with tables, fire rings, toilet, hitching racks, pack in/pack out. There is drinking water at Ponderosa campground across the road and fishing and trail access. Big Creek AirstripEighty-six miles northeast of McCall on Big Creek Road (#371). Day and Overnight use, a four-unit campground with handicapped accessible toilet and drinking water. Pack in/pack out.
