At a university striving to become a Top 20 research institution, you might not expect the rich arts programs that you find at the University of Kentucky. UK is highly esteemed across the state and nation for its emphasis on fine arts and is home to some of the best art researchers in the country.

UK's student music ensembles have performed on world stages including cultural festivals presented in conjunction with the celebration of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, at Carnegie Hall and at the Notre Dame de Paris. Each year students in the College of Design have opportunities to pursue studio courses that allow them to work on design problems and issues in communities across Kentucky, the U.S. and even in Europe. Our alumni are performing on Broadway, singing with the Metropolitan Opera and have their art showcased in national galleries. Our arts faculty are nationally renowned artists and performers who are leaders in their professions.
