When searching for stories on NPR.org, use a small number of specific, descriptive words. This search defaults to return stories containing ALL of your search words. If no results are found, you will have the option to search for pages matching ANY of the search words, look for similar spellings, and include words which sound like your search term(s).
To find multiple words in a specific sequence, put quotes around the complete phrase (ex. "America the beautiful"). Please be sure to use any punctuation, including hyphens, which appear in the phrase (ex. "world-famous").
NPR.org contains pages and audio for programs produced by NPR, like Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Talk of the Nation. To search for stories from programs produced by other public radio organizations, including This American Life, A Prairie Home Companion, and The Diane Rehm Show, please visit Programs A-Z and go to that program's Web site.
All stories on NPR.org broadcast since July 2004 are assigned to at least one topic, like "News", "Books", and Music. For example, if you searched for the word "rice", you would find stories about Condoleeza Rice under the "News" topic, and recipes including rice under "Diversions" topic. If you're not sure what topic a story would be assigned to, leave this menu set to "All Topics."
NPR.org contains stories broadcast from 1996 to the present. Search by date to narrow your search to return only recent stories. If you're not sure when a story was broadcast, leave this menu set to "All Dates".
