Turkey Hosts Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) Interdiction Exercise, Anatolian Sun, May 24-26

On May 24-26 in Antalya, Turkey, nearly forty nations will gather to participate in a Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) interdiction training exercise, Anatolian Sun – the 22nd exercise and the first hosted by Turkey. This exercise will be the first under the Proliferation Security Initiative to combine all three interdiction arenas – air, land, and sea. The United States notes with appreciation Turkey’s leadership in bringing together countries from around the world, including countries new to the Proliferation Security Initiative from the Gulf region and Central Asia, to develop capabilities to interdict shipments of proliferation concern and deter those who would trade in materials for such weapons. Through this exercise responsible nations are demonstrating their resolve to work together to stop the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
