Office of Policy, Planning and Resources for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs

On September 23, 2004, Congress approved the creation of the Office of Policy, Planning and Resources for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs (R/PPR). This new office will provide long-term strategic planning and performance measurement capability for public diplomacy and public affairs programs. It will also enable the Under Secretary to better advise on the allocation of public diplomacy and public affairs resources, to focus those resources on the most urgent national security objectives, and provide realistic measurement of public diplomacy's and public affairs' effectiveness. The office will also coordinate the Department's public diplomacy presence in the interagency, in close consultation with relevant bureaus. The Acting Director of R/PPR is Christopher Midura.
