4-H's learn-by-doing activities, youth-adult partnerships, and research-based educational programs help young people discover and develop to their full potential!
Community Development
Conducts research, educational programs, and collaborates with county and local government, business,community organizations and agencies to strengthen community economic capacity and public policy.
Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences
The Sacramento Nutrition, Family & Consumer Sciences (NFCS) Program links research-based education with life experiences to help individuals with limited resources improve their lives, their families, and their communities. Our NFCS Programs develop and implement community-based educational outreach that addresses critical needs of the county's diverse multicultural communities.
Master Food Preservers
Trained volunteers are certified to provide up-to-date information on safe food handling and the prevention of food borne illness, conduct monthly public workshops that demonstrate research-based methods for preserving food safely at home to prevent bacterial contamination, participate in public service activities, and answer consumer phone inquiries.
Agriculture and Horticulture
Research and educational programs for fruit and nut producers, landscape professionals and maintenance personnel, and backyard orchard and vineyard enthusiasts.
Master Gardener
Trained volunteers provide advice and support for local gardeners.
Fair Oaks Horticulture Center
The Fair Oaks Horticulture Center is designed to teach the public and landscape professionals how to create edible and water efficient landscapes.
Dairy
Dairy productivity and product quality, as well as complex issues of animal health and welfare, waste management, and water quality.
