USFA Arson Burn Laboratory

The Arson Burn Simulation/Laboratory is designed to provide the most realistic settings possible for the student investigator to implement those lessons learned in class for legally sound and defensible fire and arson investigations within a court of law. Practical exercise includes: photography of scene and identified "evidence"; photography/documentation of fire and smoke travel; establishment of photograph log; scene sketching and diagramming; measuring room dimensions; sketching furniture placement; investigation of electrical components of room and/or appliances found; evidence collection; laboratory request and lab log documentation; and report writing based on investigation of scene.
