NRRS™ Ticketing Policies



The National Recreation Reservation Service™ (NRRS™) is your one-stop reservation resource for the recreation facilities and activities offered by the US Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and USDA Forest Service.

Reserving Tickets

You can reserve the following types of tickets in advance for tours offered through the NRRS™:

Individual Tickets - tickets can be reserved from 1 day prior to the tour and up to 6 months in advance for most locations*.

*Independence Hall can be reserved from 1 day in advance up to 12 months in advance. Carlsbad Caverns can be reserved from 2 days in advance up to 12 months in advance.

Group Tickets – tickets can be reserved from 1 day prior to the tour for most locations* and up to 12 months in advance.

*The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site Group Tours can be reserved from 1 week in advance up to 12 months in advance. Carlsbad Caverns can be reserved from 2 days in advance up to 12 months in advance. Lowell National Historical Park tours can be reserved from 2 weeks in advance up to 18 months in advance.

Policies

Tickets can be picked up at Will Call at all parks, and please check your confirmation letter for specific pickup times prior to your tour. For Washington Monument, all tickets reserved 10 or more days in advance will automatically be mailed to you and a Shipping & Handling Fee of $2.85 will be applied to your order. Tickets ordered less than 10 days in advance can be picked up at Will Call at Washington Monument.

Advanced Reservations are available at all tour parks however there are restrictions for Independence Hall and Washington Monument where only a certain percentage of the tickets for the tours are available in advance.

Customers may purchase an unlimited number of tickets per phone call or internet session as long as facility allocations are not exceeded. The exceptions to this rule are Washington Monument where the maximum is 6 tickets for individual orders, and Independence Hall where the maximum is 10 tickets per phone call or internet session for individual orders.

For both Washington Monument and Independence Hall the customers can call back and order more tickets under the same name. Group Reservations are limited to 60 tickets per call for Washington Monument, and 80 tickets per call for Independence Hall.

Fee Facilities where the reservation fee is included in ticket price includes: Carlsbad Caverns, Mammoth Cave Roosevelt National Historical Park, Lowell National Historical Park.

Non-Fee Facilities where a $1.50 reservation fee is charged per ticket includes: Independence National Historical Park, Washington Monument, Fredrick Douglass.

Method of Payment

Recreation.gov accepts several methods of payment to accommodate your needs, including VISA, Master Card, Discover/Novus and American Express. Please see the below table for additional methods of paying for NRRS™ reservations or contact customer service at 1-877-444-6777.

Recreation.gov billing information: If you paid by bank card, your monthly statement will contain a reservation billing under the name "Recreation Gov 888-448-1474 NY" Please make note of this. If you have questions, please call the toll free number listed above.

Change and Cancellation Policy:

Changes are allowed on a ticket order at no fee. Tour-to-Tour transfers are allowed within the facility. Changes can be made up to the day before the scheduled tour date. To transfer a reservation, the caller must be able to verify the name or phone number on the ticket reservation. The caller does not have to be the person named on the reservation.

Customers are able to change the dates of their ticket reservation through the call center prior to the reservation cut-off window. Facility personnel may transact changes initiated inside the reservation cut-off window but only after the customer arrives at the facility. Changing the name on a reservation is considered a cancellation.

A cancellation fee of $3.00 per ticket is assessed regardless of when a ticket is cancelled for Mammoth Cave, Lowell National Historical Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Roosevelt Vanderbilt National Historic Site. All cancellation fees will be deducted from your original payment prior to processing the refund.

Mammoth Cave has an additional Cancellation policy for the Wild Cave, Introduction to Caving and Trog Tours due to requirements for minimum attendance.

  • Cancellations made 10 or more days prior to the Tour Date will be charged the standard $3.00 / ticket for these tours.
  • Cancellation made 10 days or LESS prior to the Tour Date will be charged the following amount PER TICKET:
    • Wild Cave Tour - $12.00 Per Ticket
    • Introduction to Caving Tour - $6.00 Per Ticket
    • Trog Tour - $4.00 - Per Ticket

There is no cancellation fee for Independence National Historical Park, Washington Monument and Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, however the $1.50 Reservation Fee for these parks is non-refundable. Please note that Washington Monument tour reservations cannot be changed or cancelled once the call is over.

You may cancel up to the day before your tour by calling the Call Center at 877-444-6777, or via the Internet at www.Recreation.gov. If you are calling for Group Sales please call 877-559-6777.

Emergency closures: In event of an emergency closure, the NRRS will attempt to notify you and offer alternates dates and tours. If this is not possible, all fees paid will be refunded.

Transfer Policy: Transfers are permitted at no charge, provided the transfer is made up to the day before the scheduled tour date. You may transfer tours or dates / times within the same park up to the day before your tour by calling the Call Center at 877-444-6777, or via the Internet at www.Recreation.gov.

Transfers for Washington Monument are not allowed, and you must cancel your original reservation and make a new reservation.

Transfers from one park to another are not allowed, and you will be required to cancel your original reservation and book a new reservation for the new park.

Confirmation Policy: Full Payment is required to confirm for all individual reservations. Confirmation letters are sent via email or by U.S. Postal Service.

Refunds: Refunds must be requested no later than 14 days after your scheduled tour date. Refunds due to cancellation will be returned within 48 hours if paid by credit card. No refunds will be distributed for no-shows.

  • Reservation Fee: If a reservation fee is charged, it is NON-REFUNDABLE. This fee for Washington Monument, Independence Hall and Frederick Douglass is $1.50.
  • Service Fee: This fee will be deducted from the amount of the refund you receive.
  • Bankcard Purchases: Refunds for bankcard payments will be issued as a credit to your bankcard.
  • Check or Cash Purchases: Refunds for NRRS™ payments made by check or money order, and cash payments at selected parks will be issued a check refund. A refund will be processed within 30 days of receipt and approval.
  • Refund requests made during or after the tour date can only be processed when approved by the facility management staff based upon local policy.

Emergency Closures: In the event of an emergency closure, the NRRS™ will attempt to notify users and offer alternate dates and sites. If this is not possible, all fees paid will be refunded.

Discounts: Holders of the Interagency Senior and Access Passes (and the Golden Age and Access Passes) may receive a 50% discount on the purchase price of a ticket. The ticket reservation must be in the name of the pass holder to receive a discount and the discount only applies to the ticket issued to the pass holder. The pass, a photo ID, and the reservation number must be presented when the customer picks up tickets at the facility.
