Passing of Former State Conservationist Cliff Maguire

We are all saddened by the passing of Cliffton Arthur "Cliff" Maguire, Wisconsin NRCS State Conservationist from 1980-1989.  Cliff worked as Deputy State Conservationist in Ohio before coming to Wisconsin.  He helped oversee the implementation of the 1985 Farm Bill, with its landmark legislation for conservation – Conservation Compliance, Swampbuster, Sodbuster, and the Conservation Reserve Program.  Cliff was born on January 11, 1931, in Rockwell City, Iowa.  He was a 1960 engineering graduate of Iowa State University and a U.S. Army veteran.  He was married to Connie Slagle in 1981, in Columbus, Ohio.  He was an avid gardener but treasured most the time spent with his family.
