As a child, Judy Sierra wrote poetry, made books and wrote, costumed and directed plays. She honed her skills as a puppeteer, and she and her husband started a puppet theater performing all around the United States. She is a master storyteller and folklorist and author of many award-winning books for children, including the best-sellers Antarctic Antics and Wild About Books, illustrated by Marc Brown and recipient of the E.B. White Read Aloud Award. Her latest book is Born to Read (Random House, 2008), also illustrated by Marc Brown. She devotes considerable time to storytelling and reading her books to children at schools and libraries -- endeavors that help her know exactly what makes children laugh. She lives in Castro Valley, California.
