Auctions


The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) offers excess parcels of land for auction at its headquarters at 1035 Parkway Avenue, Ewing. Sometimes relocatable buildings, furniture, fixtures and equipment are also for sale. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the auctions.

The postings are listed below as well as in the Clerk’s Office in the municipality where the property is located. The minimum bid is based on NJDOT’s estimated value.

Q. When does an auction take place?
A.

An auction takes place when there are more than one adjoining property owners interested or when surplus property land is a stand-alone buildable lot.
 
Q. Where do auctions take place?
A.
Auctions are held at NJDOT Headquarters, 1035 Parkway Avenue, Trenton. Prior to any auction, the requested property will be posted, advertisements will be taken out in two local newspapers and a copy of the notification posted with the town clerk in the municipality where the requested property is located.
 
Q. What is the minimum bid?
A.
The minimum bid at a public auction is based on NJDOT’s estimated value of the property.
