Childrens' Hospital

Wednesday January 14, 2009
The Funny Site of the Day -- Comedian Rob Corddry (The Daily Show) has created an over-the-top spoof of television medical dramas, poking fun at the cliches and surgical cut-ups we've seen in series like St. Elsewhere, ER, and Grey's Anatomy. Currently, 10 five-minute episodes of Childrens' Hospital are streaming free at The WB, and downloads can be purchased via iTunes.

Corrdry stars as a physician who parades around the corridors in clown makeup more reminiscent of serial killer John Wayne Gacy than angelic Dr. Patch Adams. The rest of the staff is self-centered and petty, touches that play to and underscore the show's title, which could only be more apt if it were named Horny Childrens' Hospital. The Webisodes contain adult material and are not suitable for actual kiddies.

The continuing cast and guest stars include Lake Bell, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally, Stephen Colbert, Jason Sudeikis, Michael Cera, Ed Helms, Eva Longoria Parker, and Nate Corddry, a certain brother. A second season of Childrens' Hospital is pending.

Obamicon.Me

Tuesday January 13, 2009
The Funny Site of the Day -- The famous head shot of Barack Obama stylized into bold shades of red, blue, and beige was seen frequently during the presidential election campaign. Often accompanied by a single word, such as "Progress," "Change," and "Hope," the artistic rendering became an indelible image and statement.

Paste Magazine, as a fun keepsake of the political season, has developed a special online tool with an invitation:

"Make your own 'Obamicon' -- your image in a style inspired by Shepard Fairey's iconic poster. Regardless of your candidate of choice in the 2008 election, here's your chance to sound-off. Take your picture with a Webcam or upload a photo, choose your own message, and submit to the gallery."

Select an inspirational caption from the ones provided or add original text to the picture, as someone did with my face, shown above.

Hey! I can read, you know!

Judson Laipply: The Evolution of Dance 2

Monday January 12, 2009
The Funny Site of the Day -- Judson Laipply, the self-described "inspirational comedian," took the Internet by storm with his show-stopping routine of fancy footwork through the ages. The resulting video, The Evolution of Dance, became so popular, it is reported to be the most viewed title ever at YouTube -- and still shaking.

Judson's back with more happy feet from the past in an all-new video, The Evolution of Dance 2, kicking on demand at PeopleJam. Tap your toes. Do-si-do with your mouse.

Historical choreography is always fun to see, but there's a new twist. After watching the video, dance yourself. Upload a head shot and before you know it, you'll be performing with Judson in yet another musical spectacle. Yowsa!

That's me pictured above, tearing up the dance floor alongside Judson. I'm the beginner.

Totally Looks Like - Celebrity Look-Alikes

Sunday January 11, 2009
The Funny Site of the Day -- Years ago, Spy Magazine presented a feature called "Separated at Birth," juxtaposing pictures of celebrities with nearly identical images of other people, prompting surprise, recognition, and smiles. The Internet has continued the tradition in a variety of places, including "Twin Peeps," as GiggleSugar calls its version.

Now, full-time visual comparisons, sometimes with implied snark, are collected in an ongoing gallery at Totally Looks Like. Famous persons, cartoon characters, animals, and inanimate objects are all to be found in the merry mix. Some of the dubious couples include The Cowardly Lion and Metallica's James Hetfield, Carly Simon and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, comic strip star Ziggy and a blobfish, Jason Lee and Ryan Reynolds, The Penguin and Tiny Tim, Amy Winehouse and Dr. Frankenfurter, plus The Statue of Liberty and Elvis Presley.

Know of secret doubles? Add your photographic evidence to the Totally Looks Like exhibit with the handy online tool.
