Paging System in the Clinical Center:
1. For doctors and key staff members who may be called in emergencies
through the loudspeaker system in the Clinical Center. Try to reach the
individual first at his/her regular telephone number.
2. How to use: dial 301-496-1211. When the page operator answers give
the name of the person to be paged and the extension they are to call.
3. When you are paged: dial 301-496-1211. When the page operator answers
identify yourself and you will be given the message.
4. When giving the page operator’s telephone number to users outside
NIH, give the number 301-496-1211.
Signal Service for personnel assigned personal pagers:
1. How to use: each telephone on the NIH Campus is capable of sending
a signal page to any personal pager or bellboy. Individual pagers are
assigned an 8 digit number, such as 102 12345. To signal
this number dial 102, after tone has ended, dial 12345, after tone has
ended give numeric message and hang up.
2. When you receive a signal on your pager, call your office or any pre-
determined number to receive your message. This will eliminate having
the NIH signal operator send your signal and calling him/her back for
your message.
3. The NIH telephone signal operator will accept calls, send signals,
and relay messages to physicians with multiple service and floor responsibilities.
4. To reach the signal operator, dial 301-496-1211.
5. Users outside NIH may reach the signal operator by dialing 301-496-1211 only.
6. For pager repair service, dial 301-496-1833.
