Services (DSEIS) supports the NIH Community by providing prompt, cost-effective,
high quality technical equipment services. Our prices are competitive
and we offer a single point of contact for servicing your existing laboratory
equipment, computers and printers.
We can help you acquire additional equipment through our equipment rental
and sales program; We can also assist you in designing and fabricating
new equipment and devices to enhance your research protocol. DSEIS, a
component of the Program and Employee Services is part of the Office of
Research Services (ORS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) located
in Building 13, 3rd floor.

To Request Services: Call DSEIS, ORS, 301-496-4131, for repair and maintenance of
laboratory equipment, computers and printers. Briefly describe the equipment by manufacturer, model #,
and current problem. Please include the NIH property #, and CAN #. A technician will be
sent the same day or within 24 hours to your location.
Computer Repair/Electronic Design & Fabrication: 301-496-4131, Point of contact: John Maynard. Repair of monitors, printers, ADP devices including PCs and Macs. Upgrade and replacement of peripherals (keyboard, mouse), memory and hard drive including data transfer from old computer or drive. Design and fabrication of electronic instruments, specialty circuits and devices.
Laboratory Equipment Repair: 301-496-4131, Point of contact:
John Maynard. Repair, modification, maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment including centrifuges, incubators, microscopes, thermal cyclers, spectrophotometers and power supplies.
Mechanical Instrument Design and Fabrication: 301-496-5195, Point of contact: Jimmie Powell. Design, fabricate or modify mechanical laboratory and clinical instruments. State-of-the-Art microtome/cryostat blade sharpening machine.
Service Maintenance Agreements: 301-496-4169, Point of contact: Khaldoun Sayyad. Cost-saving full service, laboratory-wide preventative maintenance agreements for laboratory equipment.
Scientific Equipment Rental & New Equipment Sales: 301-496-9748, Point of contact: Annie Burke. Rental and sales of laboratory instrumentation and computers, such as centrifuges, microscopes, incubators, thermal cyclers, DNA sequencers and spectrophotometers. Equipment maintenance, pick-up, and delivery services are also provided.
Stockroom: 301-496-4169, Point of contact: Khaldoun Sayyad. Stockroom with over 4,000 items including parts and materials for laboratory equipment, electronics, and fabrication materials, pH electrodes, bulbs for microscopes, metals, plastics, and tubing.
