DRAFT Requirements/Analysis and changelog for "WAI-AGE slide set"
Page Contents
Draft: "Web accessibility for older users"
Purpose, Goals, Objectives
- Rationale:
- WAI-AGE staff can only do a limited number of in-person presentations, but cannot directly reach everyone who is interested in Web accessibility and ageing. An online presentation, with presenter notes and explanations, would enable us to reach far more people with information about our findings from the literature review, the resources available through the project, and strategies for promoting Web accessibility in the ageing community.
- Objective:
- Develop an online set of slides and presentation notes, also to be potentially used as self-study notes, briefly explaining the project but mainly incorporating the findings of the literature review and introducing the resources available through the project.
- Note that the slide set will need updating as additional deliverables are completed.
After initial publication, maintain thorough changelog (e.g., <http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/changelogs/cl-components#changes>) and notify translators when updated.
Audience
Primary audience:
- People wanting to present on the topic of Web accessibility and ageing, including:
- older peoples' organisations and broader ageing community
- accessibility and older peoples' advocates
- accessibility trainers
- Users and other people interested in learning about the topic
Secondary audience:
- People wanting an overview of the topic
- Bloggers
- Reporters
Approach
- File Format: Provide in 2 formats (as per the WCAG 2.0 Presentation):
- A presentation format. Prefer to use Open Office ODP since it's open source; however, since PowerPoint doesn't open ODP, will need to provide PPT. Ensure that all of the PPT works well in Open Office.
- HTML, with CSS embedded. Provide only as a simple single file, not try to incorporate it into Slidy or other HTML presentation format.
Initial ideas for consideration (September 2008)
- changes in demographics
- age-related impairments
- study findings
- analysis findings
- resources
- ... reference, resources, etc ...
- invitation to participate

Suggestions from EO f2f incorporated. Simple graphs incorprated for demographic changes.
2008-11-24 version
To do for basic slide set (as per EO f2f) - in progress:
- title ideas - web accessibility for older users
- remove W3C branding so they can be reused by others
- add attribution notes to the slides as per WCAG2 slide set
- add text about reuse e.g. <http://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/WCAG20_about/#permission>
- add speakers notes to the slides as per WCAG2 slide set
- speaker notes on demographics - provide hints where to possibly look for local demographic stats
- ensure and statistical sources are attributed
- consider adding country specific stats links in speakers notes where we have them
- Demographics - graphs are good, but need to be simple (graph ideas)
- ensure main points of any graphs/tables is described well in speaker notes
- EU countries (and others) are changing age of retirement - could give examples from different countries - either in slides or the notes
- Look at examples of ways to put speakers notes and image/layout descriptions, e.g. <http://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/WCAG20_benefits/WCAG20_benefits.html>
- Many specific suggestions for adapting the ADDW slides
