Watch Q-Tip's "ManWomanBoogie" Video (Feat. Amanda Diva)

Friday January 16, 2009

Q-Tip, who's Renaissance snagged Rap Album of the Year honor last year, has dropped a gorgeous new video from his brilliant CD. "Manwomanboogie" also happens to be one of my favorite songs from The Renaissance, so I was delighted to see this music video. The video was shot by esteemed hip-hop director Rik Cordero and featured fast rising MC/singer Amanda Diva.

Cordero explained the inspiration behind his choice of a moving train as the video's backdrop: "The uptempo jazzy beat inspired me to think about classic films that feature relationships between men and women on trains. Off the top of my head, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Darjeeling Limited featured some great scenes between a man and woman combined with the immediacy and urgency of a moving train about to reach its destination." Run-DMC Heads to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Thursday January 15, 2009

Run-DMC, one of the greatest hip-hop groups in history, will be inducted into the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 80s hip-hop outfit known for hits like "Kings of Rock" and "My Adidas" is the second hip-hop act to achieve this musical milestone. In 2007, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 became the first hip-hop inductees.

Run-DMC joins the heavy metal band Metallica, guitarist Jeff Beck, soul singer Bobby Womack and doo-wop group Little Anthony and the Imperials as this year's inductee class. The induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland, home of the Rock Hall, on April 4.

Wednesday January 14, 2009
Troubled New York rapper DMX granted his first interview since his incarceration in Arizona. Throughout the interview, X expressed frustration over a number of issues, including the pink undershirt inmates are required to wear in Maricopa County. But he also had some positive news (well, that depends on how you perceive it) about his career. X says he's gearing up for his "true calling in life" which is to become a minister. He has also completed his first gospel album, titled The Gospel According to X. Watch the interview and let me know what you think.
