Politicians are sometimes accused of being too plastic, but Legoland California is taking the analogy to the next level. The theme park dedicated to all things Lego is paying homage to the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama by crafting a facsimile of the event made entirely out of the bright bricks. On the steps of the faux Capitol in the park's Miniland U.S.A., park designers are busy assembling plastic figures such as the Obama family, Vice President-elect Joe Biden, and a crowd of celebrities and admirers viewing the ceremony. The Lego tableau debuts this Friday, January 16 and will be on display through Memorial Day Weekend.

With six, you get egg roll. Disney is hoping that the Chinese government will want to roll with its plan to build its sixth theme park resort in Shanghai. The Mouse confirmed that it is working with Shanghai officials on a joint application to pursue the project. According to the Wall Street Journal, the proposed $3.59-billion project would include a theme park, a hotel, and a shopping complex. If approved, the resort would be built near Shanghai's Pudong International Airport and could open as early as 2014 according to the paper. Given the price tag and the negative feedback Disney has received about the dearth of attractions at its relatively small Hong Kong park, it's likely that a Shanghai Disneyland would be closer in size to the original Disneyland Park in California.

The Waterpark at the Villages is a small indoor water park in Flint, Texas (about halfway between Dallas and Shreveport, Louisiana). It features a glass roof and walls to maximize the outdoor light, and its retractable roof can be opened during warmer weather. While it lacks the marquee attractions of larger indoor water parks such as a surfing ride, an uphill water coaster, or a bowl ride, the Texas park does offer basic water park fun, including a small wave pool, a lazy river, four water slides, and an interactive water play station with a dump bucket.
