Hunt recipient of Agriculture Heritage Award

Minnesota NRCS State Conservationist William Hunt

Minnesota NRCS State Conservationist William Hunt was recently awarded the Agriculture Heritage “Cultivating Youth Development” Award at the 2006 Minority Youth in Agriculture Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Minnesota NRCS State Conservationist William Hunt was recently awarded the Agriculture Heritage Cultivating Youth Development award at the 2006 Minority Youth in Agriculture Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  The conference was hosted by the Retired Educators for Youth Agricultural Programs (REYAP) and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry.  REYAP President Sam Combs III and Oklahoma State Secretary of Agriculture Terry L. Peach presented Hunt with a plaque.

Hunt was recognized for his proven leadership and intuitive insight in serving the agricultural community.  REYAP promotes a vision that African-Americans and other minority youth will strive to live the American dream as they become informed about opportunities in the field of Agriculture.

William Hunt has served as the State Conservationist for Minnesota NRCS since 1995.  During this time Hunt has received several awards for his leadership and passion for diversifying the Minnesota NRCS workforce.  Through Hunt’s leadership, he has dramatically increased the number of minority employees to include women and people with disabilities. Hunt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Langston University in Oklahoma.
