Web Soil Survey Featured at Agricultural Outlook Forum

NRCS featured its new on-line delivery system for soil survey data -- the Web Soil Survey last week with displays and hand-on demonstrations during USDA’s Agricultural Outlook Forum in Crystal City, Virginia.

Web Soil Survey allows the user online viewing of all current soil surveys, maps, and reports for a particular area of interest. It represents the successful culmination of efforts to integrate soil reports and spatial data into a single system for storing and delivering information nationally.

Also available for the nearly 1,600 in attendance were several new Conservation Resource Briefs featuring key technical data to help USDA leadership and others make sound natural resource decisions.

Since its beginning in 1923, USDA’s annual Outlook Forum has provided producers, policymakers, business leaders, and government and industry analysts with the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and discuss timely issues at the forefront of America’s agriculture.
