Virginia B&B Near Montpelier

The Inn at Westwood Farm in Orange, Virginia, is located just one mile from Montpelier, the home of founding father James Madison. A recent article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette describe the Inn at Westwood Farm this way: "While the yellow 1910 farmhouse retains its simple exterior, the inn's inviting interiors offer comfortable furniture, hardwood floors, antiques, Oriental rugs and fresh flower arrangements. Guest rooms are spacious and feature Yves Delorme sheets." Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Madison's Ashlawn are also within 45 minutes of the bed and breakfast.

The Pulpwood Queens, a group which is described on its web site as "the largest 'meeting and discussing' book club in the world" is hosting its 2009 Girlfriend Weekend in Jefferson, Texas, this weekend. Jefferson, a town of about 2,000 residents, is home to dozens of bed and breakfasts. (The Marion County Chamber of Commerce says "Jefferson is well known as the Bed & Breakfast Capitol of Texas." The event includes numerous sessions where authors will discuss a variety of topics with those in attendance. More information is available at The Pulpwood Queen's Book Club web site.

Innkeeper Peggy Barthel and her husband Tony operate a unique bed and breakfast: Featherbed Railroad B&B consists of nine railroad cabooses. The Barthels love welcoming guests from around the world to their themed accommodations: La Loose Caboose, Casablanca, Easy Rider, and more.

Located in Lake County, California -- on the shores of Clear Lake, California's largest freshwater lake -- Featherbed Railroad Bed and Breakfast is about two and a half hours north of San Francisco and about two and a half hours northwest of Sacramento.
