Survivor Series 2008 DVD Review

Friday January 16, 2009
Several weeks ago, WWE Home Video released Survivor Series 2008 on DVD. This show is more famous for the event that took place before the show happened rather than anything that happened during the show. The main event of this show featured John Cena, in his first match since having neck surgery, battle World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho.

Cary Silkin Interview

Wednesday January 14, 2009
With Ring of Honor being featured in the Golden Globe winning movie, The Wrestler, I'm currently in the middle of a series of articles about the company. Last week, I wrote about the history of the company. This week, I'm presenting an interview I had with the owner of the company, Cary Silkin.

This Friday night will see the debut of their Rising Above PPV event. If you're curious to see the company on your TV, I suggest you check it out. Reviews for the show have been very positive. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer wrote: "You are not going to find a show with two better matches on it, nor any better of a final hour." Check your local listings for the time and the purchase price of the event in your area.

Cousin Junior/Moondog Cujo Has Passed Away

Tuesday January 13, 2009
I am saddened to report that Lanny Kean passed away last night from a heart attack. The Wrestling Observer reports that he was 48 years old. Lanny is most famous for playing the part of Cousin Junior in the WWE in the mid-'80s. He was part of the group of Hillbillies led by Hillbilly Jim and the late Uncle Elmer. His time playing that role was short-lived and he was replaced by Cousin Luke.

He later took on the role of Moondog Cujo and was part of the Moondogs team with the late Moondog Spot. The Moondogs feud with Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett in the USWA won the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Feud of the Year Award in 1992.

According to an obituary in Slam Wrestling, he is survived by a daughter, Crystal Hopper, and a fiancée, Sandra Deel. The viewing and funeral will be taking place at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, Kentucky. The visitation will be on Thursday from 4-9 PM and Friday from 8-11 AM with the funeral following Friday's viewing.

On Tuesday, WWE Home Video will be releasing Starrcade: The Essential Collection 1983 - 2000 on DVD. This 3-disc set features 25 matches and a 50-minute documentary. For those fans that are unfamiliar with Starrcade, I will be posting a history of that event on the site soon. Fans that do remember this great event will want to check out my review of this DVD to see what matches the fans of the WWE voted as their top 25.
