The Lead and Copper Short Term Revisions Webcast

Course Description: This Web cast will provide an overview of the current Lead and Copper Rule (LCR), which will include a discussion of the basic requirements of the rule, lead and copper tap monitoring requirements, and 90th percentile calculations.  The focus of the presentation will be the new requirements under the October 2007 LCR Short-Term Revisions.  The discussion of the regulatory changes will cover four main areas:  monitoring revisions, requirements to inform the public, advanced notification of long-term treatment changes and source additions, and re-evaluation of lead service lines with samples levels below 0.015 mg/L.  Changes to State reporting requirements and the State primacy package will also be discussed.

Cryptosporidium and E. coli Source Water Sample Collection for the LT2ESWTR Rule

Course Description: This webcast covers source water sampling for LT2 monitoring, including sampling locations, sample collection techniques, packing and shipping samples, and arranging for laboratory analytical services. The webcast is intended for public water systems and other personnel that will be collecting source water samples for the LT2ESWTR.

From Risk to Rule: How EPA Develops Risk-Based Drinking Water Regulations

Course Description: This training course provides an understanding of the basis for EPA’s primary drinking water regulations. The course explains the historical context of the public health protection basis for regulating drinking water; presents an overview of the risk reduction objectives of the Safe Drinking Water Act; explains how EPA considers risk and integrates cost and benefits in developing regulatory alternatives; and explains the principles of risk communication.

How to Submit Your Stage 2 IDSE Plan Electronically Using the IDSE Tool

Course Description: The goal of this webcast training is to inform the Stage 2 systems how to request CDX and DCTS access, how to access the IDSE Tool, and finally, how to submit electronically via the IDSE Tool. The training will review how to fill out the Standard Monitoring plan, System Specific Study plan and the 40/30 certification templates electronically, and how to generate a pdf file for your records and submit.

Arsenic Rule

Course Description: This course presents EPA's approach to implementation of the arsenic rule and provides information for regulators and water systems on compliance options. The training covers State issues such as rule requirements, violation determinations, SDWIS reporting, and the small systems compliance strategy. LT2ESWTR Workshop: Early Implementation

Course Description: The course focuses on the early requirements of the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR) and includes workshops to reinforce and practice key requirements. The LT2ESWTR was published in January 2006. Some systems need to begin complying with certain requirements of this new rule immediately. The purpose of this presentation is to explain the requirements of the LT2ESWTR in general and to address the first provisions with which systems will have to comply. This course can be presented as either a straight LT2ESWTR-only training or as a Trainer the Trainer course. The training is in a modular format, so only the modules that are relevant to those attending would need to be presented.

Course Description: The purpose of the chemical and radiological rules training course is to provide an overview of the requirements of the Phase II and Phase V rules, as well as the recent Radionuclides Rule. The training includes information on monitoring requirements including the Standardized Monitoring Framework, compliance issues such as Significant Noncompliance and return to compliance definitions, rule requirements, and the primacy revision application process.

Public Notification and Consumer Confidence Report Rules

Course Description: This webcast will provide the basic requirements of the PN Rule and the CCR Rule as well as information about effective communications between a water system and their consumers. The PN discussion will outline each of the three tiers of violations and situations requiring public notice, the distribution requirement for each tier, and all of the required content for the notice. The CCR discussion will review the required information for the main contaminant table, provide an example of how the table must be displayed, and will also review other requirements for the CCR completion.

Surface Water Rules Training

Course Description: This course combines the SWTR/TCR course and the Stage 1 / IESWTR course to take a comprehensive look at the surface water treatment rules (Surface Water Treatment Rule, Interim Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, Long Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, and Filter Backwash Recycling Rule), and their relation to the Stage 1 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule. The session begins with an overview of the organisms of concern and their relative responses to disinfection and physical removal. The theory of treatment techniques is covered. The training illustrates the progression of the development of the Microbial and Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (MDBP) cluster and summarizes the intent of each rule - how they build on each other. The requirements are presented by treatment technology with related effective dates, treatment techniques and implications for State efforts during sanitary surveys at each type of system. A session on public notification, system reporting and recordkeeping is incorporated into each technology. Exercises are incorporated throughout.

Surface Water Treatment Rule and Total Coliform Rule

Course Description: This course provides an overview of the purpose and requirements of the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR) and the Total Coliform Rule (TCR). In addition, participants will view two instructional videos that will review analytical methods for TCR and the avoidance criteria for the SWTR. The course also includes a workshop designed to illustrate how filtered systems calculate removal/inactivation requirements of the SWTR. This course is intended to serve as a refresher for veteran staff and as a baseline training for new staff.

Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule, the Second Cycle (UCMR2)

Course Description: This webcast is for public water systems (PWSs), drinking water laboratories, and state drinking water primacy agencies interested in a general overview of the UCMR 2 program. We will review the different roles and responsibilities of EPA Headquarters and Regions, states, PWSs, and laboratories. The instructor will explain PWS monitoring requirements, and highlight important issues for PWSs to consider when contracting with laboratories for analytical services. Finally, we will introduce the new version of SDWARS, and review the reporting requirements for PWSs and laboratories (immediate reporting and once monitoring starts).
