Arlene Fleming is a Customer Service and Sales Agent for a major airline. She has studied for her private pilot's license. She has traveled to over 40 countries on six continents using over two dozen airlines and has been in airplanes from Cessnas, to Boeing 777s. Arlene is passionate about air travel and enjoys sharing tips, stories, and innovations that may make the flying experience less stressful and more positive for passengers.

Experience:

Arlene has worked for a major airline for over a dozen years in reservations, a frequent flyer program and at one of the world's busiest airports: rebooking passengers; assisting business travelers, VIPs, passengers with special needs (unaccompanied minors, languages, etc.); check-in; gate control (on-time departure, oversells); and special services (pets, sports equipment, group travel). She is learning to fly a Cessna 150.

During her time as an elected health and safety officer for airline workers, she established, wrote and edited a newsletter about health and safety issues that affect airline employees.

Arlene worked on an airline's joint management / union committee for health and safety promotion. She also worked on a relocation committee representing unionized workers when a reservations office was relocated. She wrote briefs about all of these meetings for several hundreds of airline employees.

Education:

Arlene has an honors degree from Carleton University. She has represented airline workers by gaining certifications in Workers' Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation areas.

From Arlene Fleming:

I enjoy flying, and discovering the world. But I have also experienced the darker side of travel: what it's like to be stranded in foreign airports, to take 78 hours to get home, sickness and jetlag. Air travel should be as stress-free as possible, having tools to deal with the ups and downs of travel can make us all more air-ready!
