How to Link to Recreation.gov

You can add HTML code to your Web page to provide one-click results from the Recreation.gov website, pulling selected information from the Recreation Information Database (RIDB):

If you want to search Recreation.gov to retrieve public use opportunities available at just one site:

Query HTML Code to Add to Your Web Page
Find information about Back Bay National Wildlife RefugeFind information about
<a href="http://www.recreation.gov/detail.jsp?ID=1284"> Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge </a>

Each site listed in Recreation.gov has its own ID. You can determine the unique ID for your site by searching by its name on the Recreation.gov home page. For example, enter Acadia in the online query form, click on the appropriate result, and you'll see links to the site in the database. Click on the link to Acadia National Park, look in the address bar of your browser, and discover that the ID in Recreation.gov is 2554.

If you want to search for FWS offices offering one specific activity in one state:

ask the Recreation.gov database for information about Oregon refuges open to fishingask the Recreation.gov database for information about
<a href="http://www.recreation.gov/advancedsearch.jsp?states=OR&fishing=on&agency=FWS">Oregon refuges open to fishing</a>

Use the postal codes for the states, such as:
AL for Alabama
DC for District of Columbia
GU for Guam
MP for Mariana Islands
PR for Puerto Rico
VI for Virgin Islands

To query for specific recreation activities in the database:
AutoTouring - use AutoTouring
Biking - use Biking
Boating - use Boating
Camping - use Camping
Climbing - use Climbing
Cultural/Historic Sites - use Historic
Educational Programs - use Interp
Fishing - use Fishing
Hiking - use Hiking
Horseback Riding - use Horsebackriding

Lodging - use Lodging
Off Highway Vehicles - use Offhighwayvehicle

If you want to search for FWS offices in one state offering two separate recreational opportunities: Find information about California refuges open to both fishing and hunting then use the following HTML code:

Find information about <a href="http://www.recreation.gov/advancedsearch.jsp?states=CA&hunting=on&fishing=on&agency=FWS"> California refuges open to both fishing and hunting</a>

Note that a search for California refuges open to hunting (and asking about only that one activity...) will identify substantially more refuges in response to the query. The search is a Boolean "and" function - it will return results only for those refuges which are open for both hunting and fishing.
