International Wildlife Trade - Marine Mammal Protection Act

All marine mammals are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), and some under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service share jursidiction for those mammals listed under MMPA and ESA. However, the Division of Management Authority implements MMPA for marine mammals listed under CITES.
